Free WeTransfer Alternative — send files up to 2 GB

WeTransfer is the name everyone knows — and its free plan now covers 3 GB per month in total, for individual non-commercial use. Send Files, part of the free DigiLakshya Studio-Tools suite, works per transfer instead: up to 2 GB and 20 files each time, 5 transfers a day, no signup — files go to encrypted storage (Cloudflare R2) and delete themselves when the link expires.

An honest comparison — including where WeTransfer is still the better buy. Prices verified July 2026.

The free tool

What Send Files does

One job, done straight: get a big batch from your machine to your client as one link — and leave nothing behind once the job's done.

Up to 2 GB per transfer, free

Drop up to 20 files — final creatives, campaign ZIPs, video cuts — and get one unguessable link for the whole batch. Big files upload in 10 MB chunks with automatic retries, so a flaky connection re-sends the failed chunk, not the whole file. No account to send, nothing for the recipient to install.

Open Send Files

Links that clean up after themselves

Every download page lists the files, their sizes and the exact expiry date. When the link expires — 3 days free, 30 days on PRO — the files are deleted automatically. A free connection can keep 4 GB of un-expired transfers live at once, and your recent links are kept in your browser so a closed tab doesn't lose one.

White-label client delivery on PRO

Custom branding is one of the features WeTransfer sells on Ultimate ($23/mo). PRO takes the opposite route: your client's download page lives on a neutral domain — studiopreviewworld.com — with no DigiLakshya branding at all, plus 30-day links and 25 GB of account storage for transfers and files (+25 GB blocks available). One $25/mo plan, all 21 tools.

The honest part

Where WeTransfer is still the better choice

No size ceiling when you pay. WeTransfer Ultimate removes transfer-size limits entirely — a single transfer can be as big as you like. Our cap is 2 GB per transfer, and PRO doesn't raise it. If multi-gigabyte masters in one go are your daily normal, Ultimate is built for exactly that.
Email delivery, tracking and notifications. WeTransfer can email the transfer straight to recipients and notify you when it's downloaded. Send Files is link-only: you copy the link and deliver it yourself, and there are no download notifications.
Native mobile and desktop apps. WeTransfer ships apps for phone and desktop; Send Files is a browser tool. If you regularly send from a phone's camera roll or want a menu-bar drop target, their apps are the smoother path.
Portals and review features for creative delivery. WeTransfer's paid plans have grown into client-facing delivery — portals and review around the files themselves. Send Files is deliberately just transfer; with us, visual feedback lives in Creative QA and client previews in Ad Preview, as separate free tools.
A brand your clients already know. A wetransfer.com link needs no explanation — recipients have seen a thousand of them. Our PRO answer is different (a neutral, unbranded page), but WeTransfer's familiarity is real and worth something.
Malware scanning on Ultimate. Ultimate scans transfers for malware. We don't scan file contents — files are encrypted at rest and auto-deleted, but as anywhere, only open files from senders you trust.

If those are the features your workflow leans on — huge single transfers, tracked email delivery, apps — WeTransfer is worth its price; that's the honest answer. If the job is “get up to 2 GB to a client with a link that cleans up after itself”, start free below.

How it works

Send the batch free, in three steps

1

Drop your files

Open Send Files and drop up to 20 files, 2 GB per transfer. Uploads go straight from your browser to encrypted storage in 10 MB chunks with automatic retries — no signup first.

2

Copy the link

One unguessable URL covers the whole batch. Paste it into an email, a Slack message or a client ticket — the recipient needs no account and installs nothing.

3

Let it expire

The download page shows every file with its size and the exact expiry date. At expiry — 3 days free, 30 days with PRO — the files delete themselves. Nothing to clean up, nothing left behind.

FAQ

Quick answers.

Is this WeTransfer alternative really free?
Yes — sending is free with no signup and no watermark on anything. The disclosed limits: a free transfer holds up to 20 files / 2 GB, its link lives for 3 days, and a free connection can keep 4 GB of un-expired transfers live and start 5 new transfers a day. PRO ($25/mo or $199/yr across the whole 21-tool suite) stretches links to 30 days, lifts the daily cap and white-labels your download pages. One thing PRO does not change: the per-transfer cap stays 2 GB / 20 files on both plans.
Do my files get uploaded? I thought Studio-Tools ran in the browser.
Yes — this is the one tool whose whole job is uploading. Most Studio-Tools process files entirely in your browser; a file-transfer tool can't, by definition. Files go straight from your browser to secure cloud storage (Cloudflare R2), where they're encrypted at rest — our server keeps only the file list, sizes and expiry date. Links are long unguessable tokens, and everything is deleted automatically when the link expires. The plain-language rules are on how Studio-Tools handle your files.
How is the free tier different from WeTransfer's free plan?
They're shaped differently. WeTransfer's free plan (verified July 2026) is a monthly pool: up to 3 GB shared and received per month in total, across a maximum of 10 transfers, with links lasting up to 3 days — for individual, non-commercial use. Send Files is per-transfer: up to 2 GB each time, 5 transfers a day, links lasting 3 days, with 4 GB of un-expired transfers live at once. If you send big batches more than once or twice a month, the monthly-pool vs per-transfer difference is the one to check.
Can my clients see a download page without your branding?
On PRO, yes — fully. PRO download pages live on a neutral domain, studiopreviewworld.com, with no DigiLakshya branding anywhere: your client sees just their files and the expiry date. Free transfers show a small “Made with DigiLakshya” badge. For comparison, custom branding on transfers is one of the features WeTransfer sells on Ultimate at $23/mo; with us, white-label delivery is part of the same $25/mo PRO plan that unlocks all 21 Studio-Tools.
What happens when a link expires?
The files are deleted automatically — 3 days after upload on the free tier, 30 days with PRO — and a daily cleanup pass also removes abandoned half-uploads after 24 hours. An expired link shows a clear “this transfer has expired” page; there's no recycle bin and an expired transfer can't be restored, so download what you need before the date shown on the page. That's deliberate: expired transfers free their storage by themselves, and nothing you sent lingers on a server.

Send up to 2 GB free — five times a day, no signup.

Open Send Files, drop the batch, copy the link. When you need 30-day links and unbranded client pages, PRO is $25/mo — for this tool and the other 20 Studio-Tools with it.
