Free Bulk File Renamer

Rename a whole batch of files by a pattern — find & replace, change case, add numbers, or build names from tokens like {name}_{w}x{h}. Files are renamed byte-for-byte and never leave your browser. Purpose-built for ad-server naming.

100% in your browser — your files are never uploaded. Bulk Rename now lives inside our Name & Rename tool (its “Rename files” tab), with a campaign-name generator in the tab next door that can feed it names.
Why use it

Batch renaming that follows the rules.

Token templates

Build names from tokens — {name}, {n}, {date}, and {w}×{h} dimensions read straight from each image.

Find & replace + regex

Swap text plainly or with a regular expression, change case, fix spaces and symbols, add a prefix, suffix or sequence number.

Clash auto-fix

A live old → new preview shows every rename as you type, and duplicate output names get fixed automatically.

Renamed ZIP out

Download the whole renamed batch as one ZIP — files are renamed byte-for-byte, with no re-encoding and no quality loss.

How it works

Three steps, all in your browser.

1

Add files or a ZIP

Drop in any files — images, HTML5 ad .zips, PDFs, fonts, anything — or a .zip and we'll pull the files out. Nothing is uploaded.

2

Choose your rules

Pick a preset or set your own: template, find & replace, case, separators, prefix/suffix, numbering and extension. The preview updates live.

3

Download the renamed ZIP

Grab the renamed batch as a single ZIP, or copy the old → new map as text. The preview is free; free accounts get 5 ZIP exports a day.

Why ours

Private, precise, ad-ops ready.

Nothing uploaded

Renaming happens entirely on your device, byte-for-byte — safe for client deliverables and confidential creative. No file ever touches a server.

Ad-server-safe names

One-click presets for CM360 / DV360 conventions — lowercase, dashes, stripped unsafe characters, and automatic {w}×{h} dimensions.

The whole batch at once

Name fifty banners to a strict convention in one pass — no hand-renaming, no spreadsheet, no risk of a typo breaking a trafficking sheet.

What it costs

Free here — and it does more.

Desktop renamers are good with files but know nothing about campaign conventions. Taxonomy platforms enforce the convention but never touch your files. Name & Rename does both — and it’s the only one that rewrites the links inside a renamed HTML5 ad, so the ad still runs afterwards.

Compared July 2026 from each vendor’s own pricing page: Batchio Pro $4.99 one‑time (Mac only), A Better Finder Rename 12 $29.95 single‑user (Mac only), Advanced Renamer free for personal use / $45 + VAT commercial (Windows & Mac), Claravine enterprise quote only. None are affiliated with DigiLakshya and none of them show third‑party ads. Desktop renamers process files locally too — the difference here is the campaign‑naming half and the in‑ZIP link rewriting, not privacy. Generating names and the old → new preview are always free; the 5‑a‑day cap applies to CSV and renamed‑ZIP exports. See all tools & pricing.

Open Name & Rename
FAQ

Quick answers.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Bulk Rename runs 100% in your browser — your files never leave your device. Each file is renamed byte-for-byte (nothing is re-encoded or re-compressed), so it's completely safe for client work, unreleased creative and confidential assets.
What can I rename files to?
Anything you can describe as a pattern. Build names from a token template like {name}_{w}x{h}_v{nn} (image width & height are auto-detected), find & replace text (plain or regex), change case, normalise spaces and symbols, add a prefix or suffix, add a sequential number, and keep or lowercase the extension. Every change shows in a live old → new preview as you type.
Does it actually rename the files, or just show new names?
It produces the real renamed files. Because a browser can't rename files in place on your disk, you download them back as a single ZIP with the new names applied — renamed byte-for-byte, no quality loss. You can also copy the full old → new rename map as text if you'd rather script it yourself.
Is it built for ad-server naming (CM360 / DV360)?
Yes. Ad servers are fussy about file names, so there are one-click presets for ad-server-safe names — lowercase, dashes, and stripping unsafe characters — plus automatic {w}x{h} dimension tokens pulled straight from each image. Name a whole banner set to a strict convention in one pass.
What file types can I rename?
Any of them — images, packaged HTML5 ad .zips, PDFs, fonts, documents, anything. Drop a folder of files or a .zip and we'll pull the files out. Need a different edit too? Try Compress Images, Convert Image or Color Picker.
Is it free?
Yes — free to use with no signup, running entirely in your browser. The live rename preview is always free, and free accounts get 5 ZIP exports per day. A Premium account unlocks unlimited ZIP exports.
What would a paid renamer cost instead?
Desktop renamers are one-time purchases, not subscriptions: Batchio Pro is $4.99 (Mac only), A Better Finder Rename 12 is $29.95 single-user (Mac only), and Advanced Renamer is free for personal use but $45 + VAT for commercial use (Windows & Mac) — each licensed per person, per computer. They rename files well, but none of them build campaign names from a convention, and none rewrite the HTML/CSS/JS links inside a renamed HTML5 ad, so a renamed ad package stops working. This runs free in any browser; $25/month (about $1 per tool) lifts the 5-a-day export cap across all 30 tools. Prices verified July 2026 — see the full comparison or all tools & pricing.
Do these tools use credits or tokens?
No — never. Every tool is free to use with sample or daily limits, and PRO is a flat $25/month ($199/year) for unlimited use of all 30+ tools: no credit packs, no top-ups, no per-use fees. Many comparable tools bill per credit (remove.bg, CloudConvert, AdCreative.ai) — here one flat subscription covers everything. See tools pricing.
