Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The AI cutout model runs 100% in your browser, so your image never leaves your device. That's the core difference from remove.bg or Photoroom, which upload your file to their servers. It's safe for unreleased product shots and confidential creative.
Why is there a one-time download the first time I use it?
The background-removal AI model is downloaded once and then cached in your browser. On the default "Balanced" quality that's about 43 MB; the "Best quality" model is larger (about 179 MB). After the first load it's cached, so later cutouts don't re-download it.
How fast is it — is it instant?
Not instant, and we won't pretend it is. Each image takes a few seconds because the model runs on your computer's CPU. Best quality and older machines are slower; the Balanced model is quicker. The trade-off is real privacy — nothing is uploaded — and it's honest about the wait.
Do I get a transparent PNG or a solid colour behind the subject?
Both are options. Get a clean transparent-PNG cutout, or composite the subject onto a solid colour for tidy product shots. Drop in several images — or a .zip — and download them one at a time or as a single ZIP.
Is it free?
